How to open .iso files in Windows?


Using WinRAR  

WinRAR is a tool to compress files, decompress archives as well as open archives.
1. To open any .iso file, just download WinRAR.

2. Once WinRAR is installed, you can open your .iso files with WinRAR
3.You can also drag your .iso files to WinRAR
4. After opening .iso file to WinRAR, you will be able to extract it as normal zip file in WinRAR.

Using Power ISO


Power ISO is tool specially used for creating, burning, editing, mounting, compressing and extracting ISO files.

2. Once Power ISO is installed, you can open ISO files using Power ISO directly.
3. You can also mount your ISO files using this tool. 
4. To mount ISO file, right click on the system tray icon and select 'Set number of devices' >> '1 drive'. 
5. After the process is done, Left Click on the Power ISO icon and select “Device 0: No Media” 
6. A new window will pop up where you can select your .iso file and open it.
7. Now, you can see one new 'CD ROM drive' in 'My Computer', double click and open it to see all the files within the .iso file. 
8. After finishing using the .iso file, Left Click on the system tray icon again and select “Unmount all drives” 
9. Once unmounted, there will be no files in the new CD ROM Drive.

Using Daemon Tools


Daemon Tools is another tool like Power ISO.

  • 1. Once installed, open the tool.
  • 2. After starting, you will see new icon at the system tray.
  • 3. Right click on the system tray icon and select “Virtual CD/DVD ROM” -> “Set number of devices” -> “1 drive”
  • 4. After the process is done, Left Click on the Daemon Tools icon and select “Device 0: No Media”
  • 5. A new window will pop up where you can select your .iso file and open it.
  • 6. Now, you can see one new 'CD ROM drive' in 'My Computer', double click and open it to see all the files within the .iso file.
  • 7. After finishing using the .iso file, Left Click on the system tray icon again and select “Unmount all drives”

For Windows 8 Users


If you are a Windows 8 user, then you do not need any of the above tools. Windows 8 provides a built in facility of opening iso files.
To open ISO file in Windows 8, just double click on the ISO file, and it will be automatically mounted to a Virtual Drive. You can explore it using Windows Explorer directly. Just go to My Computer and there you can see a new drive. Explore it as an external DVD drive.
To Unmount the Virtual drive, just right on the Virtual drive and select option 'Eject'. The Virtual drive will be unmounted and disappeared automatically.
